LazyPoints 101
Welcome to Lazy Points! New to our site? On this page, we explain what we’re about and how to start earning and using points the lazy way.
About us 🦥
LazyPoints began with one question: “Am I crazy to want all these cards, or crazy not to have them yet?” A few months later, we were flying on points and eating in airport lounges for free. Now we share the same lazy, low-effort hacks that make travel cheaper, easier, and way more fun.
Our target audience 🎯
This isn’t a blog for people with six-figure spend or Delta Diamond status. It’s for the rest of us—people who can qualify for good cards, travel a few times a year, and want to do it cheaper and easier. Think “free economy trip to Europe,” not “search one airline to transfer points to a second airline so you can call customer service to book first class on a third airline.” (Real thing, cool if you’re into it. Not our niche.)
Earn more 💳
Choose and sign up for credit cards for maximum value
We recommend picking a few essential or “core” cards, then building out your credit card portfolio (if you want one) by waiting to add great cards when they offer maximum signing bonuses. Check out our three-step philosophy here.
If you want help figuring out which cards are right for you, you can check out our Best Cards compilation and credit card reviews.
Earn even more on your daily spending
Credit card rewards are just the beginning. You can snag more rewards on everything from gas and dining to online retail and Airbnb stays. We created a compilation here.
Redeem Easily ✈️
Start booking travel with points
Every major bank rewards program has a safe, easy way to redeem points for at least 1¢ each. Some have great partners that make high-value redemptions relatively easy. From there, the more effort you’re willing to put in, the more value you can squeeze out of your points.
Not sure where to start? We created a lazy roadmap. What about those premium redemptions you see on social media? They’re doable, just look out for red flags. Want to see where you can transfer your points? Check out our guide.
Learn how much your points are worth
If you want to avoid math, we totally feel you. You can mostly avoid it (see above). But if you want to start stretching your points further, it helps to understand how to assess their value. To get started, we created a calculator to help you compare redemptions and figure out if you’re getting a good deal.
Get better deals on flights and hotels
We compiled some flight hacks and hotel hacks to save more points or cash on your booking.
Catch the latest news 📰
In our weekly newsletter, we recap the latest news and offers in the points world and present the biggest and best credit card welcome offers on the market. We try our best to filter out the noise down to a handful of interesting developments and special deals—nothing too niche or complicated. Just once a week. Sign up here.
Support us 🧡
LazyPoints is a small, independent site—mostly just me writing part-time in a coffee shop, trying to do something a little different in the points space. If you find the content helpful, we’d love to hear from you.
The best way to stay connected (and support the site) us is to sign up for LazyPoints Weekly — a free email every Sunday morning with lazy-friendly points news, tips, and deals.
From time to time, we also use affiliate or referral links for things we actually use and recommend (credit cards, tools, travel services, etc.). We always try to point you to the best available offers, but we still recommend double-checking so you never miss a better deal.
If you’d rather support the site in other ways, you can buy me a coffee, share the site with a friend, or just keep reading. All of it helps — and thanks for being here. 🦥
