Snag Deals this Week with Amazon Prime

Story of the week: Amazon Prime Deals

This week, Amazon has two big deals for prime members.

First, there’s a $1 per gallon discount at select BP, Amoco, and AM/PM gas stations, up to 35 gallons. You just need to link your Amazon account with Earnify and pay via the app or a linked credit card. Available through tomorrow, July 6th, 2025. Details here.

Second, Prime Day is coming up on July 8-11. If you’re planning any purchases, it’s worth checking in that window to see if you can snag a deal. Check SimplyMiles to see if you can boost your rewards—I activated an offer to earn an extra AA mile per dollar when paying with a linked Mastercard.

You can sign up for a membership or check out some of my favorite travel products at the links below. As an Amazon Associate, I earn commission from qualifying purchases. But these are products I use myself and recommend, so if you’re interested and the deals make sense, consider supporting the blog by checking out:

Sign-up bonus of the week 🎯

Speaking of Amazon, our bonus of the week is the Amazon Prime Visa card.

Now, I don’t generally recommend it, because you’d have to spend a ton on Amazon for the value of 5% cash back on Amazon purchases to outweigh the benefits of a huge sign-up bonus on a travel card (like those below). But, if you are a heavy Amazon user and want the card, the current $200 bonus is as high as I can remember seeing it in recent years, and well above the typical $100-ish offer. So if you want to dive in on this card, you could do worse.

Other great current bonuses

175k points on the Hilton Aspire

50k points on the Mesa Homeowner’s Card

80-100k miles on Delta cards

Up to 100k on the Amex Gold (including via referral link)

5 free nights with the IHG Premier

Up to 175k points on the Amex Platinum

100k miles with the AA Executive (ending soon)

Quick Points of the Week ⚡

Special offers ✨

It’s Mileage Run season. After SAS set the blogosphere alight with travel hackers trying to crisscross the globe to earn a million (literal) miles, multiple airlines getting in on the action, including JetBlue (elite status for life, anyone?) and Turkish (another 1 million miles).

You’d need a lot of time and money to get in on this action, which rules me out, but it’ll be fun to watch. Nick from travel blog Frequent Miler wants to complete the JetBlue challenge in the Dunkin plane. 👀 I’m rooting for him. 🍿

New products 🆕

  • Chart a course to points. There’s been a lot of coverage lately about Bilt’s push towards points-world domination. Their latest offering? A handy in-app map to help you locate places where you can earn additional Bilt points.

  • Speed through the airport. There have been a LOT of recent developments to accelerate your trip through the airport. TPG reports that American is launching touchless ID checks with TSA in multiple airports, Alaska is doing the same, Global Entry is adding “Seamless” no-stop border entry, while United is using tech to help you catch your connecting flight. Meanwhile, Clear now allows you to reserve a spot in line in some airports—for free, no Clear+ membership required.

More value 📈

  • Capital One card-linked offers are here! I love merchant offers, which offer savings or rewards just for activating a deal and using your linked credit card. Amex, Chase, and Citi have long offered this, but Capital One is finally getting into the game too. (h/t Frequent Miler)

  • Free Uber One for Delta credit card holders. Thrifty Traveler has the details.

  • Marriott Gold status with your Sapphire Reserve. Taking advantage of that massive Sapphire Reserve sign-up bonus? You can also get Marriott Gold status. View from the Wing explains.

Devaluations 📉

  • Points Boost looks … rough. Frequent Miler has an early review of Chase’s new Points Boost, which replaced the old fixed redemption bonus for Sapphire Cards. There are deals to be found, but the results are not encouraging for value shoppers.

  • Virgin Atlantic hikes fees. Virgin Atlantic offers flights across the pond for very few points… but often tacks on a lot of fees, which can crush the value of those deals. And it’s getting much worse, per Thrifty Traveler.

  • Amex-to-Emirates slashes transfer ratio. Miles Talk notes that the formerly 1:1 ratio is now 5:4… not that there was a ton of value in Emirates points in the first place.

Enjoy the weekend! 🦥
