Bilt Rent Day May 2026

Rent Day is back, and you know the deal: double points on non-rent purchases (up to 1,000 bonus points), Rent Free, assorted special events, and a big transfer bonus—this time to three different Avios airlines. Regardless of which airline you choose, once converted to Avios, the points can be transferred freely between the many Avios programs. The exact bonus depends on your Bilt status:

  • Blue: 40% bonus

  • Silver: 50% bonus

  • Gold: 60% bonus

  • Platinum: 75% bonus

You can redeem $150 Bilt Cash to move to the next-higher tier (or to a 100% bonus if you’re Platinum). This month, the bonus is limited to 100,000 Bilt points.

So, is this transfer bonus worthwhile?

Why this bonus probably isn’t worth it for lazy travelers

I’m skipping this Rent Day bonus for three reasons.

First, Avios are a pain. I ran a Roame search and couldn’t find any decent uses for Avios from my home airport. I also did a couple quick searches on the British Airways site and got “no availability” for flights to Japan, then went to Iberia and got “404” errors for flights to Spain. This is why I avoid Avios

Eventually I found flights to London for 33k Avios + $84 in fees, which would be about 21k Bilt points, which is a solid option (of course you have to get back somehow, and you probably won’t want to fly out of London). I also found a handful of deals from other cities (e.g. business class from Raleigh to London for 54k + $152 via BA). I also know Iberia usually has solid off-peak business class pricing to Spain from certain cities, including Boston, New York, and Chicago. But this depends on the ability to find them and the sites actually working. But this is the rare low-cost, low-fee business class deal that I have actually seen in the wild.

Second, I think we’ll see this again—or better—in 2026. In the past year or so, we’ve seen a huge bonus to JAL, a better bonus to Avios (twice), and a sizable bonus on transfer to Virgin. I can’t predict the future, but I think there will be more opportunities for big transfer bonuses this year, either with Avios again or maybe even a more valuable program.

Third, I prefer Bilt’s other redemption options… even without a bonus. With 75k Bilt points, I can book a round-trip to Japan with Alaska’s Atmos Rewards with minimum hassle or cash costs, or just book $937 worth of travel through the Bilt portal. Sure I could turn that 75k into 120k Avios, but I’m not convinced I’d get more value, and I know it will take a lot more work to find a viable redemption, especially if I want to avoid hefty fees.

That said, if you’re sitting on a lot of Bilt points, this could be a great way to multiply them, or to spend excess Bilt Cash to take them even further. It may take you out of the realm of “lazy” rewards, but the upside could definitely be there if you’re willing to seek it out. After all, a little UX frustration is probably a small price to pay for a lie-flat seat to Barcelona. 🍷

Lazy Take 🦥

Bilt’s May Rent Day transfer bonus to Avios offers solid value, but it will take real effort to maximize any transfer. I think we’ll see similar or better offers later this year, and honestly prefer the standard redemptions to dealing with Avios complexity, so I’ll be sitting this one out.
